Corbetta Williama (POWELL) Lewis (1757-1831)

by Jan Joel - 09:09 on 14 May 2018

An exhibition held at Llanerchaeron Mansion (National Trust property) shows the impact women had on the estate, including a daughter of the Powell’s of Nanteos.

Colonel William Lewis of Llanerchaeron married Corbetta Williama Powell (1757-1831) in 1786, daughter of Reverend William Powell (1705-1780) of Nanteos. It is said it was her dowry that paid for the mansion to be built (that stands today) and was commissioned by the architect John Nash.

Opening 7th May until 7th October 2018, 10:30am – 17:30pm
